Our Mission

Make the Earth happy.

Make people happy.

Serve Righteous Food

We’re building a brand that connects people to the story of their food. We believe in using fresh, wholesome, simple ingredients that respect the agricultural landscape of the communities we serve. We strive to inspire a culture focused on agriculture, helping our customers and communities to become more conscious of the profound connection between their food choices and the natural world. As we bridge the gap between farmers and customers, it is our duty to investigate our farms and suppliers, voting with our dollar for a healthier, happier, and more sustainable world.

We believe in Meaningful Management: our employees should be the best products we deliver to the world. Whether it be a seasonal hire or a professional career, we strive to provide meaningful memories, relationships, and growth in the lives of all. Beach cleanups, volunteer farm visits, bass booming dance parties, silent disco dance parties, surf sessions, hikes, yoga flows, and workouts have built the foundation of how we play as a family outside of our kitchens. As our brand grows, play shall remain integral to our work.

Why buy local?

The shorter the time between farm and table, the fresher the flavors and the better the taste. Imported foods travel over 2500 miles just to reach our islands and are no longer fresh by the time they arrive. The local fruits and veggies we use have a much shorter voyage and fresher taste!

Local businesses are owned by people from the community. Profits made by local businesses are much more likely to be reinvested back into the local economy than the profits of a larger commercial company. So by buying local you not only support local businesses and farmers but you help to build a more sustainable future for yourself, your children, and your community.

We spend the majority of our days outdoors, so we take pride in helping to protect our planet. Hawai'i is the most isolated land mass in the world, which means that any imported food arrives via a taxing and unnecessary burning of fossil fuels. Buying local shortens the voyage and reduces the overall carbon footprint. Our islands are lush and our land is fertile. Let's feed ourselves!

"You are what you eat." By being conscious of where the food that we eat comes from we develop a connection to the natural and social world that surrounds us. Eating a delicious and refreshing Papaya Boat is pure pleasure and fun, but we believe that part of the experience is that you know you're supporting the farms and people of Hawaii.

At Banán, we aim to keep prices low and quality high. Our priorities are rooted in both environmental and financial sustainability, and we work to create a synergy between the two. That said, we will always opt for the long-term success of our mission over a short-term profit.

Bananas represent the heart of Banán, and EVERY banana we use is grown in Hawai'i, along with many of our other fruits, veggies, and spices. However, to excite taste buds from all walks of life sometimes we use ingredients that can't be grown or found on the islands. We believe in full transparency and will always indicate on our menu which ingredients are locally sourced. By being a little flexible, we intend to please and inspire the lives of more people, leading to better business for our local farmers, and ultimately leading towards building a stronger and more sustainable Hawai'i.
